The Azolla plant is plentiful in proteins, organic amino acids, nutrients like vitamin A, vitamin B12, and Beta-Carotene; it contains minerals like calcium, potassium, phosphorous, ferrous, copper, magnesium. Prepration Of Azolla Cultivation

Materials Required

Azolla Bed
1.5"x 1.5' pipe/wooden pole 14 piece
Fertile Soil as required (15-20kg)
Cow dung 40kg (2 days older) or pig, chicken manure
Freshwater
Azolla mother culture or seeds

Azolla Cultivation Process

To set up an Azolla bed, choose an area with a 1.5-meter width and a 2.5-meter length and level surface.
Install Azolla bed in the leveled place, fit pipe/bamboo on given side pockets.
Spread sieved fertile Soil evenly up to a 0.5-inch layer on the bottom of the bed.
Make a slurry of cow dung, adding enough water, and Pour slurry in the bed.
Fill the bed with fresh water.
Spread 1kg of pure mother Azolla culture evenly.
Spray water over the Azolla culture, which helps plants keep upright.
Cover Azolla bed with a shade net to prevent extra sun heat, rain, and dust.
After 2-3 days, multiply Azolla culture by gently rubbing in the hands. It helps break Azolla into smaller pieces for faster multiplication.
After two-week start harvesting; from each Mipatex Azola bed standard size 12ft x 4ft x 1ft, you can harvest 1kg Azolla each day.

Grow Azolla in the Natural Way

Important Tips For Azolla Cultivation

Azolla rapidly grows on water, harvest approx Azolla biomass 1kg-1.5 kg of Azolla biomass (from each Mipatex standard Azolla bed size 12ft x 4ft 2ft) daily to avoid overcrowding.
Add once in 5 days mixture of Super Phosphate and cow dung. You can also add a mixer containing magnesium, iron, copper, Sulfur, etc., at weekly intervals to enhance the mineral content of Azolla.
Replace 25 to 30% old water with fresh water once in 10 days; it helps prevent nitrogen build up in the pond.
Replace complete water and Soil at least once in six months and add Fresh Azolla seeds or culture.
Maintain the water level of at least 10 cm, so Azolla root doesn't grow in the Soil; by keeping the roots floating, it becomes easy to harvest.
Wash harvested Azolla thoroughly to removes dirt and smell of cow dung and then feeds them to animals.
